Four Star Mushrooms — Branding & Packaging

Four Star Mushrooms is a high-quality mushroom company in Chicago. They focus on sustainable agriculture and regenerative production. Their four stars stand for their key values; quality, sustainability, trust, and innovation. The majority of their products are sold to local Michelin-star restaurants but Four Star Mushrooms is expanding to consumers by moving into stores, such as Whole Foods. To do this they needed new packaging for their mushrooms, dried mushrooms, and tinctures, as well as a large crate for restaurants to keep the brand cohesive and elevated.

My proposal consists of a re-imagined logo with softer lines, illuding towards the shape and patterning on the top of a mushroom or a small cluster of mushrooms emerging from the logotype. I kept the color palette neutral and earthy with pops of color to create easy recognition between the kinds of mushrooms adding clarity and visual interest for the consumer.

All die cuts on packaging faces are the same size and shape to create a sustainable and cost-effective solution, while remaining a unique and identifiable feature for Four Star Mushrooms to stand out.
